HGTV stars Ben and Erin Napier are not happy about some unfavorable comments they've been receiving on their social media posts, and the couple is not shying away from calling their followers out about the "nasty" behavior.
In a new candid social media video shared on Tuesday, April 2, Erin began by announcing that she and her husband were in Sebring, Florida, filming their renovation series, Home Town Takeover.
The mom of two, particularly, was less than enthused about some things critics have said about folks' homes, and quickly let it be known that "you're not hurting my feelings at all, but you're being really ugly to the people who are living in these houses." Ben also chimed in throughout the clip, calling the mean comments "nasty."
"We need to talk about something," Erin addressed in the clip. "The comments on my Instagram have been really not nice; really rude, some of you guys."
Apparently, people have been dropping unfiltered opinions on the aesthetics of the insides of some homes the couple has worked on, rubbing the pair the wrong way.
"Y'all realize, we design these houses for people who really live in them, and they really read your comments. And if you can't think of something nice to say about these people's homes," she pointed out, as her husband finished her sentence, adding, "Don't say anything at all."
"You know better guys. Do better, okay?" she urged. "Be grownups and be sweet."
Ben was further disgruntled at how some people leaving distasteful comments actually "wanna be hurtful, and that's the saddest thing" about it. The couple further told people to "unfollow" them if they want to continue spewing hateful rhetoric, warning that they can do it for them, if they'd like.
"All of you who left sweet comments, keep on being you—you're awesome!" she ended the PSA.
"As my mama would say, y’all act like you’ve got some raising. ❤️," Erin captioned the social media upload.
In the comment section of the post, fans agreed with the duo's sentiments, writing things like, "So sorry this is happening. The homes you create are truly special" and "Boy, you said that MUCH nicer than I would have! Leading by example 😊."
Home Town Takeover Season 3 is slated to premiere early next year on HGTV.
