A woman’s pet dog has taken his loyalty to his owner to extreme lengths after taking a bite from a rattlesnake in his bid to protect her.
Paula Godwin, from Arizona, US, was enjoying a hike with her dogs Todd and Cooper on Friday when she nearly stepped on a rattlesnake.
As the reptile lunged at her, Golden Retriever Todd jumped to her aid.
“My hero of a puppy Todd saved me,” Ms Godwin wrote on Facebook.
“He jumped right in front of my leg where I surely would have got bit.”
Ms Godwin shared several images of Todd with a swollen face after the snake sunk its teeth just below his right eye.
