Heavy smoke blankets parts of Sydney
Heavy smoke haze has blanketed parts of Sydney, as those with respiratory issues are asked to remain indoors.
The smoke is from a number of "essential Hazard Reduction burns" that took place on Saturday.
Those controlled burns are still underway in near Mt Kuring-gai, Hornsby, Killarney Heights and Belrose on Sunday.
"Parts of Sydney may be affected by smoke today from important hazard reduction work carried out by NSW RFS volunteers and other fire agencies," a NSW Fire spokesperson said.
Fire crews took advantage of the "favourable conditions" to undertake the burns, with more scheduled through to next weekend.
Fire officials have reminded members of the public to only call 000 for unattended fires and "not just because you can smell smoke".
