Do you hear 'Yanny' or 'Laurel'? Internet divided over audio clip
Remember in 2015 when ‘The Dress’ broke the internet? Well 2018 just found the audio equivalent.
The audio clip that initially appeared on Reddit has created a division not seen since millions of people couldn’t agree whether the dress was gold and white or black and blue.
This time it is “Yanny” vs “Laurel” and the extremely mixed opinions on what the robotic voice is saying are causing serious confusion online.
Find out for yourself above.
Needless to say, those that heard Yanny could not understand how anyone was possibly hearing Laurel and vice versa… at first.
However, after listening to it on a loop, those on team Yanny suddenly swapped to team Laurel and could not fathom how.
I heard Yanny at first, then Laurel. Now all I hear is the internet telling me I should be in bed already.

Okay so I heard Yanny like 2 minutes ago. Now, I heard Laurel.

In an interview with the Verge, Lars Riecke, an assistant professor of audition and cognitive neuroscience at Maastricht University offered a simple explanation for the confusion.
He said the older you get, the larger the chance you lose hearing in your higher frequencies.
That may be why younger people around you may hear “Yanny”, while others hear “Laurel.” That, or some people have impeccable hearing.
