Graffiti artists deface Jill Meagher tribute
Graffiti artists have defaced an inner city tribute to murdered Melbourne woman Jill Meagher.
A mystery artist created the 20-metre mural on a wall in Hosier Lane shortly after the ABC worker's death in September.
But this week the art work, which read 'Rest in Peace Jill', was painted over by graffiti artists, despite calls to preserve it as a lasting memorial.
It comes as South Melton City Council removed a memorial stone and floral tributes at Gisborne South, near the place where the 29-year-old's body was found.
Adrian Bayley, 41, of Coburg, has been charged with the rape and murder of Jill Meagher.
He is due to appear in court in January.
