The Ontario Provincial Police say they're searching for a man and a woman who fled the scene of a multi-vehicle collision Tuesday morning on Highway 400, south of Lloydtown-Aurora Road.

A stolen pickup truck and two tractor trailers collided north of Vaughan before 5:45 a.m., police said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The pickup truck was being driven "erratically," an OPP spokesperson told CBC Toronto, which may have played a role in the crash.

Police say a 60-year-old Good Samaritan stopped to assist, at which point the male and female suspect "boarded" the man's vehicle and fled the scene.

Everyone else involved remained on scene, police say.

The damage was extensive and the OPP said a crane was brought in to help with cleanup.

Police say the highway's two right lanes are closed until later Tuesday evening to repair the guardrails.
