Golfers shocked as python takes down antelope on fairway

Golfers were shocked when they came across a large python trying to make a meal out of a substantial herbivore grazing on the fairway.

The distressing footage of the snake coiled around the antelope was taken earlier this week at Leopard Creek Golf Club, which borders the Kruger National Park in South Africa.

The bushbuck can be seen blinking and twitching as the reptile continues to constrict its prey.

The video has been shared online by a number of people including Richard Gill, who told one person who commented on the footage on his Facebook page that it was an “ incredible sighting”.

“Sadly the buck perished & the python left its kill probably feeling uncomfortable with all the spectators,” Mr Gill wrote online.

Mr Gill noted a few waterbuck were also keeping an eye on the spectacle from the distance.

“Golfer are pretty used to waiting for wild animals to move out the way before the tee off,” Andre Snyman told Yahoo7.

“It is not called Leopard Creek for nothing.”

There were mixed reactions to the sighting online, with one person calling it “hectic”, while another said it was “horrid”.

But a third added it would have been “pretty cool to experience”.
