Happy Globes day! The Golden Globes finally returns to screens this year after scandal pushed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to take the award show off TV in 2022. This came after many stars and studios said they would boycott the show following allegations against the HFPA, including lack of diversity and alleged unethical business dealings.

    Jerrod Carmichael once again left viewers shocked when he made a 'tasteless' joke about the fact the Beverly Hills Hotel, where the awards show is being held, is the same location where late icon Whitney Houston died.

    "We are pressed for time, but they wanted me to shoutout the venue that we're in," he began. "We are here in the hotel that killed Whitney Houston, the Beverly Hilton, so that's very exciting."

    Host Jerrod Carmichael left the audience stunned when he walked onstage holding three Golden Globes, referencing the awards Tom Cruise returned to the award show following the HFPA scandals.


    "I have a pitch — I think maybe we have these three things and exchange them for the safe return of Shelly Miscavige," he said, referencing the missing wife of Scientology leader, and Tom's friend, David Miscavige. The joke wasn't met with laughs from the audience and social media users have taken to Twitter to slam the comedian.
