Wild story behind picture of man holding massive 186kg feral pig

A wild animal removalist has recalled how he and his team managed to capture a 186kg feral pig that had been terrorising a golf course.

Wyatt Walton, who works for an invasive species removal company, was tasked with capturing the beast at Gateway Hills Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas, US, last week.

The giant hog, which weighs more than twice a regular feral pig, had become particularly difficult to catch after it had developed an ability to evade traps set to capture it.

He was forced to bring in three specially trained dogs to help with the job.

Mr Walton explained to Insider that a Black Mouth Cur hunting dog initially tracked the pig down before it was held down by two American bulldogs.

He and his two colleagues then stepped in to tie down the hog before taking it alive to a processing centre.

Mr Walton, who stands at 187cm, said he and his staff just about managed to lift the hog into the trailer.

He has since shared images on Facebook of his remarkable catch, which have since gone viral and drawn comments from amazed users.

“That is scary huge!” one person declared.

“I’ve never seen one that big!” another said.

But Mr Walton brushed off the praise, simply saying: “I'm just a guy in the middle of the woods catching pigs.”

He noted feral pigs were becoming an increasing problem in urban areas and he and his team were working hard to ensure they are removed humanely.
