George Conway: Critics should call Trump ‘crazy’ because it drives him ‘nuts’

George Conway, one of former President Trump’s most vocal GOP critics, is giving liberals a piece of advice: “Laugh at him” and call him crazy.

Conway joined comedian and senior “Daily Show” correspondent Ronny Chieng on Thursday to discuss Trump’s recent guilty verdict in his hush money trial and the upcoming election.

He argued that mainstream media and the country have “not had a full national conversation” about Trump’s psychological condition. Conway said according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or the DSM-5, he thinks Trump has a narcissistic personality disorder and is a sociopath.

“That needs to be talked about openly,” the prominent attorney said. “It needs to be pointed out, when he is doing things that meet those criteria, and it’s gotta be pointed out, and it drives him nuts when people do that.”

Conway said such a move could create a cycle: If people say the former president is “crazy,” he will act crazy, and “then you have more video.”

“The other thing I would recommend to liberals is, don’t get mad,” he said. “The people who support Trump like when liberals get mad; that’s why they like Trump.”

“You can make fun of him and mock him. I mean, this is what these shows do,” Conway told Chieng.

“You’re kind of addressing the whole premise of the show right now,” Chieng responded. “That’s what we’re trying to do here.”

Conway agreed, noting that fellow late night host Jimmy Kimmel and his continued battle with the former president plays “an important role.”

“Laugh at him,” Conway suggested. “Now, that doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate the seriousness of what would happen to this country.”

Conway said if Trump is reelected in November, the United States is “going to have civil disorder like you’ve never seen.”

Reached for a response, the Trump campaign said, “George Conway is a loser who clearly has some serious mental issues and suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome that he needs to address.”
