Gemma Collins announces engagement to Rami Hawash for the third time after romantic Maldives proposal
Gemma Collins announced her engagement to Rami Hawash for the third time after the businessman proposed during their Maldives getaway.
The former The Only Way Is Essex star shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of the couple in which she is seen flashing a diamond engagement ring.
She wrote on her story: “Get ya hats ready. This is it.”
According to The Sun, the reality star had no idea Hawash was going to pop the question and was “shocked” by the proposal during their tropical getaway.
The source shared: “Rami popped the question again in the Maldives, and Gemma had no idea it was coming, she was so shocked.
“She is absolutely thrilled and she can’t believe it is finally happening.
“She didn't know what was happening until a huge platter of cakes came out and as Gemma started eating her mango dessert, Rami surprised her and said, ‘look at that’. He had lit up, ‘Will You Marry Me?’ on the sand.”
The couple first met in 2011 and got engaged two years later when Hawash proposed by hiding a ring in a Christmas pudding.
However, just four weeks later, Collins ended the engagement. But during lockdown, seven years after their split, the couple reconciled and got back together.
They then got engaged again in 2021. The couple had intially planned to marry this summer, but last July, Collins disclosed that they had opted to cancel their wedding arrangements and concentrate on other priorities.
Their joyous news comes a week after Collins opened up about her battle to lose weight.
The Diva Forever star is grappling with several health issues including an underactive thyroid, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic syndrome, a group of health problems that puts a person at risk of type 2 diabetes or conditions that affect the heart or blood vessels.
She wrote on Instagram that she had been eating chicken and drinking water for a week and working out for two hours a day but had lost only 0.4lbs.
Sharing her frsutration, Collins penned: “Why can I master everything except weight loss? I’m gonna keep showing up and I’m gonna keep going against all odds but some days it just breaks you.
“Shout out too all the people who feel this. Can you IMAGINE!!! Eating a handful of chicken and water for a whole week and working out I was shook when the scales said .4”
“METABOLIC SYNDROME. UNDERACTIVE THYROID. PCOS, the struggle is real but like F will it stop me.”
