Gabby Petito: Boyfriend’s strange posts as wild theory emerges

The boyfriend of Gabby Petito, 22, appeared to save several bizarre posts to his Pinterest just weeks before she disappeared.

An account @blaundrie1197 on the website has not been confirmed to belong to Brian Laundrie, 23, but it does share albums with Ms Petito’s Pinterest page and his mum’s account, The Sun reports.

One album titled “My Girl” appears to show Ms Petito, whose body was found on Sunday in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, posing in an orange dress. Her death has initially been determined by the coroner to be a homicide.

In the weeks leading up to Ms Petito’s disappearance in late August, a post titled “The Opposite Of Lost” was saved on the @blaundrie1197 page.

“Don't try to find me. I have finally escaped my ‘master’s’ wicked clutches,” is written underneath a picture purple and pink clouds.

“To the others I say: Join me. Bite the hand that feeds you. Vive La Liberté" - Pierre.

The most recent activity on the page was five weeks ago when a link to a book for sale on Etsy called ‘Burnt Out: How to Cope with Autistic Burnout’ was saved to an album named ‘Bleak’.

The revelation of the bizarre posts comes as police continue their search for Mr Laundrie, who returned to the couple’s Florida home, which they shared with his parents, on September 1 with their converted van but without his girlfriend.

The pair had been travelling across the US when she vanished. Her family reported her missing in their home state of New York on September 11.

After refusing to talk to police upon his return, Mr Laundrie’s lawyer Steven Bertolino said on Friday that the 23-year-old, who police say is a person of interest, had left his home and his family had not heard from him for a few days, CNN reports.

New Brian Laundrie theory: Didn't go to reserve, home

Police are now in their fourth day of searching for Mr Laundrie in the 9,700-hectare Carlton Reserve park in Florida.

Investigators say Mr Laundrie’s parents told them he had gone there after returning home without Ms Petito.

However, John Walsh, the former host of ‘America’s most wanted’, told CNN on Wednesday he believes the 23-year-old was “never” at the reserve.

“I’m of a different persuasion and a different philosophy on going back to the swamp. I think he was never there,” he said during an interview.

Mr Walsh also said he questioned if Mr Laundrie had returned home in the first place.

“What if he came back with the van? He was there for 10 days. Great amount of time to prepare for an escape. Could've scraped the van. I'm surprised the FBI finds anything in that van or anything in the house.

“So 10 days he's there, did anybody see him? Did any neighbours ever actually see Brian?”

Investigators searched the family home earlier this week and were seen removing bags of evidence from the property.

A Ford Mustang driven by Mr Laundrie’s mum was towed from the driveway.

Police search underwater for Brian Laundrie

The outdoors search for Mr Laundrie includes thousands of acres of forbidding, swampy subtropical terrain replete with alligators, snakes, turkey, deer and many other wild creatures.

There are more than 160km of hiking and horseback riding trails, plus numerous camping areas and rivers.

Police have now brought in a diver unit called SURF, or Sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Force, to perform a more specialised search for evidence.

“These highly-trained deputies work in the most difficult and challenging environments imaginable. They are on call 24/7/365,” the sheriff’s office said in a tweet.

FBI and police have been deluged with tips about possible sightings of Mr Laundrie, but say that none have so far panned out.
