'Beautiful angel': Friends pay tribute to 21-year-old woman killed in horrific head-on crash
Friends have paid tribute to a young woman who died in a head-on crash.
Shania McNeill, 21, was behind the wheel of a Suzuki Baleno driving along Richmond Road at Berkshire Park in Sydney’s west on Sunday about 1.15am when she she was involved in a head-on crash with a Nissan Micra.
A passerby tried to save Ms McNeill before paramedics arrived, but she died at the scene.
Her passengers and those in the other vehicle were all transported to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
No one has been charged over the crash. Police believe one of the two cars may have crossed onto the incorrect side of the road causing the head-on.
Inspector Phil Brooks told Fairfax the Suzuki was “driving in an erratic manner”.
On Sunday, Ms McNeill’s friends paid tribute to their “dear friend” after learning of her death.
“Rest in peace Shania McNeill, you were so loved and you will be missed,” one woman wrote.
Another woman added she “couldn’t believe it” after learning the 21-year-old had died.
“This can’t be real,” one man wrote.
Another man added he was devastated on waking up to the news of her death.
“I am heartbroken as are a lot of people that had the absolute pleasure of knowing you,” he wrote.
“I’m still waiting to hear the sound of your car coming up the driveway. Rest In Peace Shania McNeill you beautiful angel.”
Another man claiming to be her housemate wrote “words can’t describe” how he and the other people they live with are feeling.
“You were on your way home,” he wrote.
“Words can’t describe what’s going on in our heads. You didn’t have to leave us so soon.”
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
