Fresh delights on trail menu

Now in its third year, the Dryandra Country Art, Food and Wine Trail remains dedicated to spoiling mums, entertaining families and highlighting local artistic talent and produce over the Mother's Day weekend.

On May 9 and 10, 17 venues from Williams to Popanyinning will open their doors to exhibit works, whet appetites or offer creative wares.

ARtS Narrogin chairwoman Deborah Hughes-Owen said the event was more accessible this year, and all locations were in a 40km radius of Narrogin.

"It should be easy to get around all 17 venues because they are all (close to) Narrogin, the other destinations being Williams, Wickepin, Cuballing and Popanyinning," she said.

Along with event stalwarts Downderry Wines, Tromp Studios and Chedoona Gallery, there are a few first-timers, including an exhibit titled the Herald Street Hideaway.

The Town Hall will host an array of individual artisan stalls as well as buskers and local caterer The Polished Plate.

Mrs Hughes-Owen said there would be plenty of food available, including at the Popanyinning Town Hall where Narrogin's Quirky Cake Queen will house a pop-up cafe.

"Make sure you allow time to enjoy one of the delicious lunch options, there's no excuse to go hungry," she said.

Local cafe Bronny's will feature an exhibit by Tafe students, giving trailblazers the opportunity to enjoy coffee as they peruse the art.

Owners Deb Newsome and Mel Crowe said they were excited to participate in the event for the first time.

"We were approached and thought why not," Ms Newsome said.

Mrs Hughes-Owen extended an invitation to artists to enter works in to the NEXIS exhibition, titled Little Treasure of Motherhood, by May 1.

Entries must be no larger than 20cm x 25cm.

"I urge everyone to get a copy of the trail guide so that they can plan their weekend," she said.
