Frasier reboot: Everything we know about comeback show with Kelsey Grammer and Nicholas Lyndhurst
Frasier Crane fans have a reason to celebrate as the much-anticipated Frasier revival is fast nearing its release date.
In the upcoming sitcom, Kelsey Grammer will be reprising his role as the snobby yet loveable character alongside a stellar lineup of well-known faces.
Having previously run for 11 years, and earned 37 Primetime Emmys, producers behind the popular NBC show have been hard at work crafting the comeback.
Premiering 30 years ago, the reboot will follow Frasier as he embarks on a new chapter in Boston, Massachusetts. First-look pictures have already given fans a taste, revealing Nicholas Lyndhurst drinking pints alongside Grammer.
Ahead of the series return, here’s everything that we know about the upcoming Frasier revival.
When will the Fraiser reboot be aired?
Paramount+ has confirmed that the Frasier reboot will return to US television screens on October 12. To mark the start of the series, two episodes will be aired.
International audiences will be able to catch up on the show the following day, on October 13. The Frasier reboot will be available in the UK on Apple TV.
There will be eight more episodes of the Frasier reboot released every Thursday following the season launch.
Where will the Frasier reboot be set?
It has been confirmed the Frasier sequel will return to where it all began — back in his original Cheers days in Boston, Massachusetts.
The character’s new location was revealed in a social media post by Paramount+, which included mocked-up tickets showing Frasier Crane’s details on a flight from Seattle to Boston.
Paramount has since released a press release that confirmed: “The new series follows Dr Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.”

Who will return from the original Frasier cast?
Alongside Grammer, we can expect to see a few familiar faces in the upcoming reboot.
Paramount confirmed earlier this year that Peri Gilpin, who played Roz, will make a guest appearance in the new season.
Bebe Neuwirth is also reportedly returning to her character, appearing as Frasier’s ex-wife, Lilith.
Who will star in the Frasier reboot?
The Frasier sequel will also have many new characters including Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy; and Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s old college buddy and now university professor Alan.
Grammer confirmed earlier this year that Lyndhurst will star in the revival, calling him a gifted comic actor after they appeared on stage together in Man of La Mancha at the London Coliseum in 2019. New images released by Paramount show the two actors drinking pints alongside newcomer Toks Olagundoye.
Olagundoye has been cast as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university psychology department. Jess Salguerio will play Freddy’s roommate, Eve, and Anders Keith will assume the role of Frasier’s nephew, David.
Cheers and Frasier Crane
The TV show Cheers introduced us to the character of Frasier, a role that earned the actor four Emmys.
The character was only meant to appear for a few episodes but Grammer’s performance impressed producers so much it prompted them to expand his role and created the spin-off Frasier.
There is still no official word whether the character will be revisiting his old watering hole or if any other past Boston buddies may appear in the new show— but there was official confirmation about another link to that era.

Director James Burrows has been confirmed for the first two episodes of Frasier. Burrows co-created Cheers and is also the “most nominated director in the history of television”.
Grammer will act as executive producer, with writers Chris Harris of How I Met Your Mother fame and Life in Pieces’ Joe Cristalli. The first episode has been taped in front of a studio audience in Los Angeles.
