A frantic search for a missing Brisbane man is underway after his empty boat was spotted driving uncontrollably in the ocean.
Police were called to waters off Mud Island in Moreton Bay, north of Brisbane, about 3.30pm on Wednesday and found a small aluminium boat spinning around.
Trent Riley was believed to have been onboard.
A search for the 26-year-old is now underway, with officers using three helicopters and 10 vessels to look for him on Wednesday afternoon and night.
The search resumed on Thursday morning.
Police said it was believed Trent was wearing a long-sleeved grey fishing shirt, black jeans, black shoes and a bucket hat.
He is described as Caucasian, with a fair complexion and brown hair, standing about 183cm tall with a proportionate build.
Trent's friends told 7News they did not know what happened to him, but he was a good swimmer.
