A search for the 26-year-old is now underway, with officers using three helicopters and 10 vessels to look for him on Wednesday afternoon and night.

The search resumed on Thursday morning.

Police said it was believed Trent was wearing a long-sleeved grey fishing shirt, black jeans, black shoes and a bucket hat.

He is described as Caucasian, with a fair complexion and brown hair, standing about 183cm tall with a proportionate build.

Trent's friends told 7News they did not know what happened to him, but he was a good swimmer.
