Newsreader found naked, passed out in car

A news anchor has apologised on-air, after she was found passed out in her car last month, smelling of alcohol.

Feven Kay, also known as Fevan Kiflegiorgis, a reporter and anchor for Fox5 News was arrested on March 20 at around 7.30am.

The news reader from Las Vegas was found sleeping in her car naked, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.

Police reportedly said her vehicle was found in a travel lane and Kay told police she did not know how she got to Matthew Avenue. She smelled of alcohol, according to officers, but declined testing.

Kay addressed the incident when she recently reappeared in front of the camera for the Las Vegas station.

"I want to take this time to be transparent," Kay said recently on Fox 5 News.

"Last month, I was arrested by Metro for driving under the influence. At the time of the arrest I was inside of a parked vehicle in a Las Vegas neighbourhood alone.

"That charge has since been reduced to misdemeanour reckless driving for which I will pay a fine and take classes."

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Kay was sentenced this week and was handed a $1000 ($A1288) fine and will go to driving school.

In her return to TV, Kay also said she wanted her audience to know she had learned from the arrest and thanked people for their support.

On social media, following the broadcast, several people said they were pleased to see Kay on their screens again.

"It is FANTASTIC to see you back!" one person tweeted.

"So happy to see my friend @Feven_Kay back on air," another person said on Twitter.

"You been missed and you have my support always.. you just made my day, and week. Much love Feven."

Kay began her career as a TV journalist in 2016 at 23ABC News in Bakersfield, after working as an Assignment Editor at KTLA 5 News for four years.

She has been with FOX 5 News since November 2018, according to her LinkedIn
