Fox’s Kilmeade: If Trump listens to Bannon, Gaetz, ‘he loses’
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade is warning former President Trump against listening to Steve Bannon, his former White House chief of staff, and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), one of his closest allies in Congress.
“I think both candidates have to realize this: If Joe Biden listens to the ‘squad,’ he loses,” Kilmeade said on Tuesday’s episode of Fox and Friends. “And I think if Donald Trump listens to Matt Gaetz and Steve Bannon, he loses.”
Most voters, Kilmeade said “are not on the extremes.”
“The first one to understand that … is going to be successful,” the host added.
Bannon now hosts a popular podcast and streaming show titled “War Room” that he uses to regularly promote Trump and his policies, rail against the former president’s enemies and attack Republicans whom he deems not sufficiently conservative or loyal to the former president.
Gaetz led a charge last year to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and has served as a close ally of Trump’s for years.
Both Bannon and Trump have ridiculed Fox News in recent months, attacking the Murdoch family as “globalists” and alleging the network is trying to stand in the way of Trump’s reelection effort.
The former president has nonetheless participated in a number of town hall events and exclusive interviews with the top-watched cable channel this year, as he mounts another bid for the White House this fall.
