Four killed in horror northern NSW crash

Four people have died in a crash in northern NSW on Saturday.

Four people have died in a horrific crash in northern NSW after their vehicle left the roadway and rolled, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Back Channel Rd in Wardell, near Ballina, shortly after 5.45am following reports of the crash.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District attended and located a blue Mazda BT50 utility that had left the roadway and had rolled.

The male driver and three passengers – two men and a woman – died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances.

A report will also be prepared for the information of the Coroner, a NSW Police spokesman confirmed.

Road closures are in place and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
