Four in hospital after multi-crash carnage
A seven-car pileup and truck tyre blowout is causing chaos on one of Queensland’s busiest motorways.
About 12.45pm, a police spokeswoman confirmed eight cars collided in a bumper-to-bumper crash on the Gateway Motorway, grinding traffic to a halt.
Paramedics assessed 19 people on scene but a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed none of the patients suffered serious injuries.
The motorway was closed to northbound traffic for about 45 minutes before opening again but with a new 60 kmh speed limit.

The motorway at nearby Eagle Farm remains shut in both directions after a truck tyre blowout led to a truck-and-car collision about 1.05pm.
Paramedics have taken four patients, two adults and two children, to Logan Hospital for further treatment.
The condition of the patients is unknown at this time.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist and passenger caused delays on the motorway at nearby Murrarie after their bike crashed into a guard rail near Lytton Rd.
They did not suffer serious injuries in the crash.
