Four arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences at pro-Palestine protest in London
Four people have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences during a pro-Palestine march in London.
Police officers detained a 34-year-old man from Kent, a 58-year-old man from west London and a 36-year-old woman from South Yorkshire all on suspicion of inviting support for a banned terrorist organisation during the protest at Victoria Embankment on Saturday.
The fourth person, a 49-year-old man from south London, was arrested a day after when officers saw him taking part in a protest outside the police station where the other suspects had been taken into custody.
Their suspected offences go against section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
All four people have been bailed to return to a police station in late March.
The force completed searches of four addresses.
Thousands of demonstrators marched through the capital on Saturday in support of Palestine, where nine arrests were made for alleged offences including inciting racial hatred and a suspected racially aggravated public order offence.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met Counter Terrorism Command, said: "The vast majority of people attending protests are doing so peacefully.
"There are consequences for those who are not and where officers see people supporting proscribed organisations we will take action, as we did this weekend."
On Sunday, former home secretary Suella Braverman joined pro-Israel protesters in London as the world marked 100 days since Israel's war with Hamas began.
