CCTV reveals moments before teen fatally struck by Lamborghini on footpath

A Lamborghini which killed a 15-year-old girl in Adelaide on Saturday was captured on security video moments before the fatal crash.

The footage shows the $330,000 luxury car travelling along Morphett Rd in Glengowrie on Saturday night before the 37-year-old driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and struck Sophia Naismith and her best friend on a path, before crashing into a Chinese restaurant.

The speed limit for the road is 60km/h, with the CCTV showing the Lamborghini travelling at the same speed as another vehicle as they occupy the two northbound lanes.

The driver has since been charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing injury.

He is due to front Adelaide Magistrates Court on July 31.

Video of the vehicle, with the number plate PSYKO, had previously been uploaded to a YouTube account run by the driver which details high-performance vehicles.

The driver had been at the Wintertime Snow & Shine event at the Westfield Marion shopping centre with his wife before the crash – just 3km away from where the teens were struck.

The event’s Facebook page describes it as “South Australia’s largest Winter Automotive Festival.”

The organiser of the event, Horsepower Crew, released a statement on Facebook regarding Sophia’s death.

“We wish to pass on our deepest condolences to all families/affected persons/EMS that are affected by this tragedy,” they wrote.

“At Horsepower Crew we consistently work closely with Authorities and SAPOL to ensure the Safety of our Community in attendance of our Festivals.”

The statement urged any witnesses or anyone with information on the crash to contact police.

On Monday, Sophia’s parents paid tribute to their daughter, saying she was “the centre of our universe”.

Earlier that day, the teen who was injured in the crash took to Instagram from her hospital bed to reveal her pain over losing her best friend.
