Food delivery driver's 'disgusting' act caught on camera

A 14-year-old boy says he was disgusted to learn a food delivery driver secretly took a sip of his milkshake at his front door before handing it over.

After drinking the milkshake, Rishab Malhotra’s father told him to check the doorbell camera and he discovered the DoorDash delivery driver’s brazen act.

“I felt really disgusted,” he told local broadcast station KTXL.

The boy’s father, Rajesh Malhotra said it was “crazy”.

“I mean, how can someone jeopardise the product like that, especially the food?” he said.

People who saw the video online were also disgusted.

“EEWWW! That’s it for me! I’ll make my own damned milkshake,” one Twitter user wrote.

The family claimed it hasn’t heard back from DoorDash after reaching out about the incident several times in the past two weeks.

“They just need proper training and we want an apology, for them to say what we did was wrong and to make sure it doesn’t happen to other people,” Mr Malhotra said.

However, a DoorDash spokesperson said in a statement the company reached out to the family immediately and fired the driver seen in the video.

“We sincerely regret that this incident fell short of the experience we strive to give our customers every day,” the spokesperson said.

“We reached out to this customer immediately after being notified of this event three weeks ago. We have since taken appropriate actions, including deactivating the Dasher from our platform for failing to follow and maintain our standards of food safety.”
