Florida Man Wearing 'Crocs' Jumps Into Crocodile Pit, Gets Bitten

A man was arrested on Tuesday, November 6, after breaking into Florida’s St Augustine Alligator Farm and diving into a crocodile pit. Police said the man was bitten by a crocodile and sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his feet and leg.

The St. Augustine Police Department said they initially responded to an address near the farm on Tuesday morning about a man wearing underwear and “crawling on the lawn in a concealed manner.” The man, identified as Brandon Keith Hatfield, was taken to Flagler Hospital for medical attention. While officers were driving to the hospital, a second report was received about an incident at the alligator farm. “It was later discovered the two calls were related,” police said.

Staff at the farm reviewed their security footage after finding damage and a “Croc”-style shoe in the crocodile pit. The footage shows a man climbing atop a small structure and jumping into a pond.

Police said Hatfield “damaged numerous exhibits and statues around the complex,” causing more than $5,000 in damage. Credit: St Augustine Alligator Farm via Storyful
