Flight attendant strangled to death during hotel meet-up

A financial trader “fond of BDSM” has been jailed for nine years for killing a flight attendant after the pair shared an ill-fated rendezvous at a four star airport hotel in 2019.

Flight attendant Albina Mukhametzyanova was found strangled in the bath of their suite in Moscow after the meet-up.

Self-described cryptocurrency specialist Nikita Enin, 27, told police he was overcome with jealousy after snooping on his 23-year-old lover’s social media following a night in a hotel at the city’s Vnukovo airport.

He “killed” the flight attendant “unintentionally” after a “row because she cheated on me”, he told police.

The couple had just “got back together” after a split because she had been “scared” when he tried to “strangle” her, friends told authorities.

They had spent a “normal” night together but in the morning he checked messages on her smartphone, he said. That triggered a row which resulted in her brutal murder.

The “wealthy” trader told police he confronted her over why she “betrayed” him.

“She began to speak louder, louder, louder and I just…went crazy,” he said.

Enin went on the run after killing the woman, sparking a major manhunt. He was ultimately detained days later sporting a straggly beard and a black eye.

His defence team argued that Enin was mentally ill and needed treatment, however Russia’s Serbsky Centre for Social and Forensic Psychiatry found him to be a “explosive” and a “hot-tempered egoist” who was aware of the consequences of his actions when he killed the flight attendant.

The court accepted he was sane and sentenced him to nine years in a strict regime prison, local media reported.

A former female colleague of the convicted killer said he was “strange” and had a keen interest in bondage.

“I know nothing about his relationship with this girl,” she said.

“I only know that Nikita was fond of BDSM, and often tried to talk about it.”

Another acquaintance called Zhanna said he had confessed to her that he and Albina split up “because he strangled her a little.

“He said that it was ‘just a little, but she was scared’.”

Soon afterwards, they got back together.

Friends said Albina was living her dream of becoming a flight attendant and had moved to Moscow from provincial city Naberezhnye Chelny three months ago to pursue her career.

“She was a very positive person ... When we saw her, she never stopped laughing.”

Her sister Landysh, 27, said: “She was so happy and beautiful.

“I cannot believe that we will never see her again.”
