Cruel treats: Fish hooks found in snags thrown to pet dogs
A family’s dogs have managed to survive an attempt to bait them in their own yard.
Sausages laced with fish hooks were thrown over the fence, but luckily all four pets were unharmed during the incident.
For dog owner and grandmother Carol Vince, her four dogs are more like family than pets.
Her pet Staffy and three Chihuahas are well looked after and are fixtures on the street.
Carol has lived there for more than 20 years.
“They’re my babies, they are, and if anything happened to my dogs,” the distraught owner told 7 News.
However last night, the family’s pets became the target of a callous crime when they were baited by a stranger in the middle of the night.
Carol woke up to find a deadly surprise in her driveway, five sausages each laced with metal fishing hooks, intended to cause lasting damage.
“It’s disgusting, they should be locked up. They should be jailed for what they’re doing,” she said.
It’s believed the meat was thrown from the street and over the fence.
Luckily all the four pups were secure in the backyard.
The incident has shocked residents.
“It’s a bit of a worry, there are lots of animals in this neighbourhood,” Sarah Bloxidge a resident of the area told 7 News.
“There’s lots of families, even if a child had picked it up.”
