Fire almost derailed Kyle’s wedding
Kyle Sandilands has revealed his shock at being informed a fire broke out at his star-studded wedding, two days after the event took place.
The radio star, who married Tegan Kynaston in Sydney on Saturday, was told by co-host Jackie-O Henderson of the near-disaster on the Monday morning edition of their show.
Henderson said her daughter Kitty was first to spot the commotion at the reception as other guests’ attention was transfixed on the groom.
“Did you know that there was a fire happening in the middle of your speech?” she asked her co-host, to which Sandilands confirmed that he hadn’t.
“So you’re making your speech and everyone’s transfixed on you and the table next to me, Kitty (daughter) starts nudging me, it starts catching on fire.”
Henderson went on to explain just how she believes the flames erupted.
“So the candle had lit, had caught onto, you know those massive pearls on a chain on the table, I think inside they’re filled with foam,” she said.
“And it had caught on fire, proper flames were going up.”
“I did not see that!” Sandilands replied.
“No one on the table had even noticed at this point,” Henderson said.
“(Kitty) said, ‘mum, this table’s on fire’, and I said, ‘quickly, tell that girl who’s sitting in front of it’.”
Despite the minor chaos, the couple’s big day appeared to have otherwise gone off without a hitch with celebrities along with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns attending the celebration.
In a energetic video shared to the Kyleandjackieo Instagram page, the newly-married Mr and Mr Sandilands can be seen loudly celebrating surrounded by family and friends.
The party ran late into the night, with the couple paying tribute to Tegan’s Jewish faith.
In a post shared to Jackie’s Instagram page, the newly weds are seen being lifted up in chairs as guests danced the Hora – a popular Jewish tradition.
The duo waved handkerchiefs to the tune of Hava Nagila – a Jewish folk song.
There was also a traditional breaking of the glass after the ceremony itself.
The party went well into the night, with the groom reportedly spotted smoking a vape with bridesmaids at one point.
Henderson pulled up to the event alongside her daughter Kitty in a black BMW, wearing a floral Zimmerman dress.
