Favorable views of Harris rival Beyoncé in new survey
Vice President Harris is almost as popular as Beyoncé, a new survey shows.
The April survey by Echelon Insights found that 43 percent of respondents view Harris favorably, while 45 percent view Beyoncé favorably.
Almost 2 in 5 respondents — 19 percent — had a “very favorable” view of Harris, who is running for reelection along with President Biden. By comparison, 17 percent had a “very favorable” view of the singer. More of those surveyed had a “somewhat favorable” view of Beyoncé than Harris.
More respondents had heard of the singer but had no opinion, while Harris’s responses were more polarized. Twice as many held unfavorable views of the current vice president than the singer, who recently released a chart-topping country music album.
Fifty-three percent of all respondents had an unfavorable view of the vice president, while just 26 percent had an unfavorable view of Beyoncé.
The survey also found that Harris, the first female vice president, was more popular among women and particularly popular with respondents of color. Sixty-one percent of Black respondents had a favorable view of her, as did 45 percent of Hispanics. Roughly one-third of white respondents — 35 percent — held the same opinion.
She was least popular with younger respondents, scoring only 23 percent favorability among those aged 18 to 29. She was most popular with respondents 40 to 49 years old and those older than 65.
The Echelon Insights poll was conducted among 1,020 respondents April 12-14 and had a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points.
