Family's desperate plea after young couple's death in horror crash

The heartbroken families of the high school sweethearts killed in a horror Adelaide Hills car crash are reaching out for help.

They’re making an impassioned plea for donations to pay for the teenagers’ funerals.

Seventeen-year-old Hayden Perkins and his girlfriend Mikayla Eastwood were killed in a shocking head on crash near Strathalbyn.

“We were like a month apart, we did everything together, went everywhere together,” Cousin Amity Richardson said.

The pair had only just finished Year 12.

As tributes for the pair flowed, so did the memories.

“Lots of trouble always, always playing outside,” Ms Richardson said of her cousin.

Amity is now fundraising for Hayden’s funeral to take some pressure off his mum and dad.

Mikayla’s family has set up a fundraising page for her too.

Between them, almost $20,000 has been raised.

The support comes from “heaps of people from the community, friends from school,” according to Ms Richardson.

Devastated classmates say they’ll be wearing black arm bands to schoolies this weekend, and at their school’s Year 12 graduation next week.

Two fundraising pages have been set up, one for Mikayla Eastwood and one for Hayden Perkins.
