Australians vent their anger over widespread Facebook outage
While Instagram removed likes from posts on Thursday morning, it was its parent site Facebook which was causing more of a stir with the social media giant crashing for many.
Twitter was awash with users complaining of an outage across Australia and New Zealand.
“And here I am yet again... because Facebook is down,” one person wrote.

Several also suggested Instagram wasn’t functioning either.
A Down Detector map shows Australia’s south-east and New Zealand were worst hit, while Japan and the Philippines also suffering substantial outages.
It is not clear how many accounts have been affected, however some accounts appeared to be back online at 8.45am on Thursday morning.
A Facebook spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia everything has since returned to normal.
"Earlier today, some people may have experienced trouble with Instagram. The issue has been resolved and we are back up and running. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The outage comes a few months after Facebook suffered its biggest crash in its existence.
