Explosion at Sydney shopping centre

A basement explosion has caused the partial closure of a shopping centre in Sydney's north.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Westfield shopping centre in Hornsby on Saturday morning after an explosion in a refrigerated area of the shopping centre's basement.

NSW Fire Spokesman Superintendent Ian Krimmer said no one was hurt, but part of the shopping centre above where the explosion happened has been closed down as engineers assess the damage.
