Eric Nam cancels Malaysia concert over 'threats' for liking Israel-Gaza post

Korean American singer Eric Nam has canceled a concert in Malaysia in response to threats he allegedly received for “liking” an Instagram post about the Israel-Hamas conflict.
What he did: Nam, 34, “liked” an Oct. 9 post created by political strategist Jordan C. Brown-Underwood, which condemned the recent activities of Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Brown-Underwood asserted that it is “absolutely reasonable and logical” to oppose the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians “while simultaneously calling for the protection of Jews in Israel and around the world.”
The backlash: Nam sparked outrage for his engagement, with critics reportedly claiming that he “only spoke on behalf of Israel and Jews.” Some reportedly went further to accuse him of supporting the alleged genocide in Gaza.

Concert canceled: In an X post Monday, Nam shared that he has received threats related to his schedule in Kuala Lumpur, forcing him to cancel an upcoming concert. Malaysia, a Muslim-majority state, has an open relationship with Hamas.
Nam described his “liking” of the post as “a reaction to waking up to devastating news, as someone who has always been pro-human, pro-peace, and for love and equality for all.” He concluded noting that his heart is “broken for the Palestinian and Israeli families that have been ripped apart by violence and are facing unimaginable loss.”
