Dramatic bodycam footage has captured the heart-stopping moment police officers chase down and arrest an armed suspect following an alleged early morning suburban home invasion.

The footage, released by WA Police, shows police officers responding to the incident in Camillo in Perth’s outer southeast, which the police allege took place about 3.30am Saturday.

The cop lights blaze through the dark streets and the sirens blare as the officers pursue the suspects.

The video then cuts to an officer checking an empty vehicle in the street.

“Suspect has ditched the vehicle,” the officer says.

The officer dashes through the quiet suburb and then jumps a fence into a backyard, where he comes upon a man wearing dark clothes, a balaclava and holding what appears to be a weapon.

The police officer yells at the man to “drop the weapon now, or I will taser you.”

Two officers pin the man to the ground and make the arrest.

“Don’t move or I will tase you,” an officer yells.

“Hands behind your back now”.

The dramatic early morning take-down is part of an investigation into the alleged home invasion.

The police allege two males, one armed with a knife and one with a firearm, forced entry into a home on Natasha Way and threatened the three occupants before stealing some items.

“The offenders stole a Ford Falcon sedan and left the area,” the police said on Saturday afternoon.

“It will also be alleged the stolen vehicle was sighted by police about 3.50am in Thornlie and failed to stop.

“Police followed the vehicle and a short time later the vehicle stopped on Greenway Ave in Thornlie.

“The male occupant of the vehicle fled on foot before being apprehended and taken into custody.

“The firearm believed to have been used during this incident was located on Clancy Way in Thornlie and has been seized by police.”

The 31-year-old man taken into custody has been charged with a range of offences including aggravated home burglary, aggravated armed robbery and reckless driving to escape a police pursuit.

He is due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.

Inquiries are continuing in relation to the second offender.
