Eggs sold at popular market recalled over salmonella fears

People enjoying their breakfast ‘sunny-side up’ are being urged to check their eggs after four varieties have been recalled due to potential salmonella contamination.

The NSW Food Authority advised on Friday eggs sold by The Egg Basket wholesalers and Flemington Markets, both in Sydney, stamped with the code ‘eb24449’ had been recalled.

The varieties being recalled are Country Fresh Eggs, Just Eggs, Chef’s Choice Free Range and Chef’s Choice Cage Free with use-by dates between June 14 and July 9.

Consumers are advised to not eat the varieties of eggs and dispose of them, or return the eggs to the point of sale.

Salmonellosis symptoms include fever, headache, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
