Australian woman's shock discovery inside giant egg

A West Australian egg producer has made a shocking discovery inside a giant egg she cracked open.

Blythe Calnan, who runs Runnymede Farm in Binningup, shared a video on Facebook of an egg being found inside another egg.

“Wow!!! We have never had this before!!!” the post alongside the video said.

“The pullets (young hens) are starting to lay like little champions, but some take some practice to get the process right.

“In this case instead of a hen having a contraction to lay an egg she has had a counter contraction and sucked the egg back up, then built another one over it – resulting in an egg inside an egg.

“I hope for her sake she gets the hang of normal-sized eggs soon.”

The video shows the producer cracking a giant egg into a bowl and another egg popping out next to a yolk.

Earlier this year, a Queensland producer cracked an egg to find a smaller egg inside.

The oversized egg was laid by a chicken at Stockman’s Eggs on the Atherton Tablelands, west of Cairns.

The giant egg weighed 176 grams, about three times the size of the average egg.
