Earthquake with magnitude of 6.0 rocks Papua New Guinea
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 has struck off Papua New Guinea
The powerful quake occurred about 230 km off of New Britain early on Tuesday at a depth of 5.7 km, the United States Geological Survey says.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a tsunami warning.
Geoscience Australia have estimated the eartquake could have been felt by people up to 415 kilometres away.
Earthquakes are common near Papua New Guinea, which lies on the 4,000-kilometre-long Pacific Australia plate.
