Doncaster: Charity shop and food pantry planned for community hall

A charity shop and a community pantry are to be installed in a South Yorkshire community centre, following the council's approval.

A former storage space in Bullcroft Memorial Hall in Doncaster is to be used for the initiatives.

It follows a successful trial of several charity shop and community pantry events at the hall.

City of Doncaster Council planners said there was a "clear demand" for the schemes in the area.

Community food pantries help people access affordable household items, food and toiletries.

The one at the hall would be accessed through a referral and £5 weekly membership, allowing access to 25 items each week, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Doncaster Council said the addition of a charity shop and community pantry at the hall would have "no adverse effects on other businesses or the existing site".
