Demi Lovato Shares Political PSA After Donald Trump Issues First Executive Orders

Demi Lovato is speaking out after Donald Trump's first order of business back in the White House was to declare that trans and nonbinary individuals would no longer be recognized by the federal government.

The "Nightingale" singer—who identifies as nonbinary and uses she/her and they/them pronouns, after previously adopting they/them pronouns—took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Jan. 21, to address the executive orders.

President Trump signed them shortly after he retook the country's highest office, declaring that the government would only recognize two biological sexes: male and female. The anti-trans agenda also looks to end "radical and wasteful" DEI programs within federal agencies.

Lovato addressed other members of the LGBTQ+ community whose identities were put at risk by Trump's decrees, writing on the social media platform, “If you are trans or non-binary like me, please know that I see you, I feel you, I am with you. You are validated, you are loved and you are not alone."

The singer, 32, continued, “No one can take away our identities and no one can tell us who we are or aren’t," before concluding, “We will get thru this. I love you.”

Lovato also addressed reports that Meta-owned platforms Facebook and Instagram have been automatically subscribing users to Trump and JD Vance's official accounts, claiming to have unfollowed Vance "twice today."

"Shady f--king business meta," they added.

Gracie McGraw has also called out the alleged actions of the social media giant, comparing the multitude of reports of people struggling to unfollow or block the political accounts to Apple's infamous automated porting of U2's Songs of Innocence into the music library of every iTunes user back in 2014.

"Ew," she said. "Immediately blocked."
