A food delivery rider is set to face court after he amassed a staggering 240 demerit points on Sydney roads over just four months.

The 23-year-old was pulled over at Macquarie Park on April 13 when he was seen by police allegedly performing an illegal U-turn, The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday.

When he produced a French driver’s licence it was discovered he also held a NSW C-class driver’s licence, which was suspended due to unpaid fines.

He was issued with an infringement notice.

But just a day later, he was pulled over for a random breath test and again produced his French driver’s licence.

He was given a court attendance notice for driving without the correct licence.

Two weeks later, he was once again pulled over for a random breath test and handed over his French driver’s licence.

Police gave him a second court attendance notice for being unlicensed for driving a motor scooter.

It was only then that police applied to Transport for NSW to obtain his driving record and discovered he had amassed 240 demerit points since January.

A police source told The Daily Telegraph that the situation was complicated because the man was a holder of an international licence and because the scooters he was using at the time were issued by the delivery companies that employed him.

“It’s pretty terrifying … if this bloke or anyone like that had hit a pedestrian or another motorists, there’s no third party insurance,” the police source told The Daily Telegraph.

The driver is set to appear in Burwood Local Court on May 28.
