Deadly find that had been under little boy's carseat on 20km drive

A mother has come face to face with a very unwelcome hitchhiker hiding under her young son’s carseat.

“I left my window an inch open and this fellow found his way into the car and went for a ride 20kms into town under the car seat,” the woman from rural Queensland posted on the Toowoomba.com.au Facebook page.

Accompanying the post were two images of a dark snake hidden just under the backseat of a car.

“It was underneath the seat where my little boy was sitting,” the woman posted.

The frightening discovery was made when the snake “popped its head out while sitting in the car,” the woman wrote.

People responded on Facebook shocked that the woman was able to stay calm enough to take a photo of the snake.

“This is stuff nightmares are made of,” one person commented.

Another joked that this was enough to make them jump on a plane.

“I’m leaving Australia I’ve had enough,” the person wrote.

Some decided it was best the woman just invested in a whole new set of wheels.

“At that point you gotta throw the whole car away,” a person joked.

Many debated over whether the snake was dangerous but after photos were shared on the Snake Catcher Victoria Facebook page, it was confirmed the unwanted passenger was a deadly Eastern Brown snake.

Stu McKenzie from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers told Yahoo News Australia this family were extremely lucky they spotted the snake when they did.

“It’s the second most venomous snake in the world,” he told Yahoo News Australia.

Fortunately for this family, everyone managed to escape the ordeal without anyone getting hurt.

“Feeling very grateful we are all safe and well,” the mother posted.
