Couple 'mortified' after dad spots embarrassing item in selfie

A young woman and her partner have been left red-faced after she sent her parents a selfie while on holiday – only for her father to notice a “mortifying” detail in the photo.

The 22-year-old, known only as Kelsey, shared the incriminating picture to Twitter on Sunday, along with text message exchanges with her mum.

“Sorry dad. Will not be sending more holiday pics in a hurry x” she tweeted with the pictures.

The selfie was taken in a mirror of what appears to be a motel room. A closer look reveals a selection of personal items on a table below, including deodorant, chewing gum and a contact lens case.

However, the woman’s eagle-eyed father spotted a bottle of strawberry Durex lubricant gel among the toiletries, and didn’t waste the opportunity to embarrass the couple.

Kelsey’s mum wrote in a text message: “Dad said the pics r lovely, nice durex bottle.”

“It’s elliot’s knee cream!” Kelsey wrote back, trying to cover it up. But her folks weren’t fooled, saying “Dad zoomed in!”

The young woman eventually fessed up, saying her boyfriend was “mortified”.

The photo and text message exchange has been liked more than 44,000 times and retweeted by more than 3,700 people.

Another tweeted: “Aw man you can’t come home from that holiday.”
