Video shows cyclist collide with kangaroo while riding on country road

A cyclist came off worse for wear when she collided with a kangaroo during a leisurely bike ride on Australia Day.

The footage was captured by another cyclist on a country road near Boonah in south east Queensland.

It was later uploaded to Brisbane radio station Nova 106.9 commentators Ash, Kip & Luttsy's Facebook page, showing the moment a roo appears from bushland, hopping across the road and smashing into the bike rider's right shoulder.

The roo literally bounces off the woman and continues on its way, seemingly uninjured - but the cyclist wasn't so lucky.

"Bit of a collision between a cyclist and a 'roo out in the Boonah region on Australia Day," the Facebook post reads.

"The cyclist, Rebecca, suffered a subluxation of the AC on her right shoulder (where the 'roo hit her) and a laceration on her left knee, but has had a good laugh about it now!"

In the comments section, many Facebook users made fun of the recently-introduced one-metre gap law between cyclists and motorists.

"In related news kangaroo is being arrested for a hit & run," one person wrote.

"Has been charged with HOONING, PUBLIC NUISANCE, FAILING TO KEEP 1m FROM CYCLISTS, FLEEING THE SCENE, EVADING POLICE & CAUSING GRIEVOUS BODILY HARM.

"Police suspect he will skip bail."

Another commentator wrote: "Kangaroo must not of [sic] heard of the 1 metre rule ...hope they're both well and on a speedy recovery."
