7-Eleven launches innovative new service amid coronavirus crisis

Convenience store 7-Eleven has expanded its services to include no-contact delivery in Melbourne, with plans to launch in more locations around Australia.

The delivery service launches today with customers able to order essentials, snacks, toiletries and pet food online for delivery in as little as an hour in some areas. The delivery fee is around $7.95 depending on the delivery time requested.

The new service is through Tipple, an alcohol delivery service, and 7-Eleven hopes to use the network of delivery drivers to help their customers purchase essentials with contact-free deliveries.

“We’re able to provide consumers with more options to get the things they need while minimising how often they need to leave their house,” 7-Eleven CEO, Angus McKay said.

Mr McKay said the service will provide an alternative to those who are isolating, working in essential services or unable to access busy supermarket deliveries.

“This new service is ideal for people who are unable to get out to get basic essentials or ready to eat foods and need delivery within a shorter timeframe,” he said.

“In some suburbs there are within the hour delivery options, but for most suburbs, customers can order for next day delivery.”
