The bodies of two people have been found in a shipping container in central west NSW.

A major probe is underway after officers made the grim discovery in Gulgong, about an hour east of Dubbo.

Shortly after 11am on Saturday, officers were called to a 10 acre property on Goolma Rd following a concern for welfare report.

On arrival they discovered two bodies in a red shipping container.

“A crime scene has been established as an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continues,” a NSW Police spokesman said.

“A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.”

Forensic officers were seen scouring the property on Saturday afternoon as a section of Goolma Rd was closed off.

Neighbour Michelle Scrivener said the property was used as a hobby farm with several vehicles, shipping containers and animals housed on site.

“It’s just a shock, nothing like this every happens out here,” she said.

“I feel sick in the stomach... it’s very odd.”

She said no one lives on the property but it’s regularly visited, including on weekends, when she hears motorbikes on the block.

“I just keep to myself and they to themselves,” she said.
