Confusion reigns as kangaroo shows up on busy construction site

A confused kangaroo has showed up on an Adelaide construction site before he was removed by animal control.

The roo showed up on the Marden building site in the city’s northeast on Wednesday morning, much to amusement of construction workers.

Concreter Tony Wilkey said the marsupial was trying to step onto finished concrete.

“We weren’t letting that happen, so we outsmarted him and boxed him up,” he said.

The roo was placed behind fencing but became stressed and tried to dig his way out while construction workers tried to find someone to take him to a safer spot.

But nobody knew who to call – the RSPCA suggested trying fauna rescue.

When no one there could help, Adelaide Koala Rescue was called in – who then asked the Adelaide Zoo for help.

Vet Ian Smith used a dart on the kangaroo before he was relocated to his normal habitat.

However, it’s hoped he won’t show up to volunteer for any construction work again anytime soon.
