Conchata Ferrell, 'Two and a Half Men' favourite, dies aged 77

Conchata Ferrell, best known for her role as Berta the housekeeper on Two and a Half Men, has died at the age of 77.

A rep for Warner Bros Television confirmed the news to Variety, as well as sharing the news with fans on Twitter.

“We are saddened by the loss of Conchata Ferrell and are grateful for the years she brought us laughs as Berta which will live on forever,” Warner Bros tweeted.

Conchata reportedly died on Tuesday in Sherman Oaks, California, after she was hospitalised back in May, spending more than four weeks in the ICU.

During her stay in ICU she went into cardiac arrest at one point, and was then relocated to a long-term treatment centre, where she was on a respirator and dialysis.

Conchata featured on all 12 seasons of Two and a Half Men appearing in a total of 212 episodes from 2003 and 2015.

She received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 2005 and 2007) for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series.

The actress originally sought a career in the theatre and made her Off-Broadway debut in 1973 as a member of the Circle in the Square theatrical company in Wilson’s Hot L Baltimore.

Conchata soon transitioned to film, appearing in the film adaptation of Hot L Baltimore, and then landing a role alongside Julia Roberts in the 1979 feature film Heartland.

She most recently starred as Shirley in a 2017 episode of Netflix’s sitcom series The Ranch.
