Community rallies to help young family after father's sudden death

A Gold Coast family are coming to terms with the sudden loss of a beloved father, brother and son who died after an accident.

According to a fundraising website, the father-of-three, 36, was riding his push bike last weekend when he was involved in a crash.

“In the early hours of Sunday morning 24th June, Nathan Vogel… was riding his push bike home when he had an accident causing severe head injuries,” the page reads.

He died the following Monday.

Mr Vogel leaves behind his wife, Ashleigh, and his three sons – nine-year-old Tarvin, five-year-old Harley and two-year-old Cash, the fundraising page says.

Mr Vogel’s sister, Sigrid, told the Gold Coast Bulletin her brother was a “beautiful soul”.

His mother added that he was very well liked and had a large circle of friends.

“He’s going to be a massive loss to his family and friends,” she told the publication.

A release at the time said the accident happened at the intersection of Cedar Court and the Gold Coast Highway.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and it is expected a report will be handed to the coroner.

A fundraising page is gaining support and more than $8,500 has been raised since June 28 until now to give the family some financial relief “to assist Ashleigh with schooling, sports for the boys and no doubt 3 boys would eat alot of food!!! (sic)”.

“As Nathan was the primary income earner for his family and didn’t have life insurance, Ashleigh is left to support and care for the boys on her own,” the page read.

Anyone who wishes to support the young family can donate online.
