Coles hot chicken discount hack revealed
A savvy shopper shared the tip they used at the deli.
A $12 Coles hot chook can be the perfect quick and cheap meal to lean on when you’re time poor or not feeling like getting too creative in the kitchen.
And if you’re like the millions of Aussies trying to reduce their grocery bill as everything else gets more expensive - a savvy shopper has shared a way you could snag a discount.

Both Coles and Woolworths mark on the bag the time their rotisserie chickens were cooked.
A Victorian dad went to their local Coles about 6:00pm to get dinner for the family this week and saw the offerings had been put out at 2:00pm.

“I asked the deli lady how many hours until the hot chicken is discounted and she said four, which I already knew,” he said.
He pointed out the four-hour window had lapsed and the attendant discounted them on the spot.
“She discounted them to $2 each so I bought two … if you don’t ask, you don’t receive,” he said.
Yahoo Finance approached both Coles and Woolworths to see if there was a timeframe customers could leverage to save some of their hard-earned cash but neither could confirm.
The BBQ chook is the third best-selling item at Coles, and Woolies say they sling more than 20 million a year.
Given their popularity, they are likely to be snapped up before the Aussie shopper’s suggested four-hour window lapses, with discounts likely a way to reduce food wastage.

How to get a free chicken at Coles
The supermarket giant has a policy to hand over a voucher to customers if there are no hot chickens in stock.
“Customers are eligible to collect a voucher for a free RSPCA Hot Roast Chicken to use within seven days if the RSPCA Hot Roast Chicken is unavailable during certain hours, as stipulated on signage in the deli area of the store,” a Coles spokesperson told Yahoo Finance.
“This ‘Promise’ is available nationally, however, as there are different trading hours by state/store, different stores have different time periods on their signage.”
Woolworths does not have a similar scheme.
