Cleaner breaks down in tears as students hand him amazing gift

A university cleaner has broken down in tears after a group of students rallied together to give him a “much deserved” gift.

Herman Gordon, is described as the ‘epitome of happiness’ and is loved among the student body of Bristol University due to his positive and joyful attitude.

A crowdfunding page, which was set up to send the Jamaican cleaner on a holiday back to his native country, raised more than $2,600 (£1,500) in just five days.

Moments after the students handed over the cash-filled envelope, he was left lost for words.

Herman shakes his head in disbelief, saying: “no, no… a thing like this, man, God bless you man, God bless you.”

“I want to thank you for everything you’ve done, and God bless every one of you, every one of you,” he said staring into the camera.

After achieving their target, the page sent an update: “We did it! All of you amazing people managed to help a group raise £1,500 so that Herman and his wife can travel to Jamaica this summer.”

“The Jamaican cleaner in the med library is the jolliest man I have ever met, he makes me smile even when I’m in the deepest depths of revision or trying to be, if you wanna reason to smile go talk to him for a minute or two,” the students wrote on a university Facebook page.
