Christmas 'grinch' caught on camera stealing gifts from doorstep

Security video of a woman stealing Christmas presents from outside an Adelaide home has gone viral, with more than 13,000 shares in a day.

The woman is being dubbed “the Grinch of Blakeview” after she was filmed making a move for the parcel shortly after a courier had dropped it on the doorstep.

The box contained three T-shirts valued at $200, bought online to give to loved ones at Christmas.

“I was so angry, so angry,” victim Laura Dootson told 7News.

“She is a Christmas grinch. It’s not nice, people come home expecting there to be a parcel and it’s gone.”

The incident happened in broad daylight on Tuesday, just an hour after the parcel had been delivered.

The victim uploaded the security video to Facebook, hoping to catch the culprit.

“We wanted to let people in the area know that someone is going around stealing parcels and [to] be careful what you leave out,” Ms Dootson said.

Locals were horrified, calling the theft “terrible” and “disgusting.”

Australia Post says the best way to stop this type of theft is to have parcels redirected to an address where someone can sign for them.

The theft has been reported to police.
